| You can now set your
water monitoring wells using the Diedrich Hollow Stem Augers and the Diedrich Flex Plugs
(pat no. 4667,754) The hole
is augered to the total depth of the well using the hollow stem augers equipped with the
flex plug. The flex plug also allows sampling of the water bearing sands during the
drilling operations.
A flex plug opener consists of an
AW rod connection to a flat steel plate that is held into a thin wall piece of steel
tubing by an "O" ring. This thin wall steel tubing is approximately the length
of the flex plug with the fingers removed.
The AW rod with flex plug opener
is lowered to the flex plug location in the auger head and pushed into the flex plug,
opening up the fingers of the flex plug catch on the bottom of the opener tube preventing
it from coming back out of the hole when the AW rod and plate are removed from the auger
string.
The center hole of the auger is
now ready for the insertion of the well screen and riser. This well can be constructed in
the usual manner and the flex plug and opener tube can be removed when the augers are
removed from the hole. |
